Update, of sorts

There have been many “happy christmas”, “season’s greetings”, “merry christmas”, and “blessed yule” swirling about lately, and it has actually gotten to me. I’m not depressed as such, but I am feeling rather twitchy.
Last night I cried myself to sleep. It’s the the first time since August of this year. I got to thinking of [...]

Green Pee, Pink Pee, Rainbow Pee

The neverending saga of my stoma continues. Last week I went out to a pub with some friends, for the Building Bridges Pub Moot.  I only stayed for a couple of hours, since I had to get home cos my young sibling required access to my computer (his is down at the moment, being fixed).
Flash [...]

Stoma & UTI

My little rosebud is hurting, badly.
Went to a walk-in clinic yesterday, cos I couldn’t wait to see my regular GP. The visit was amusing for myself, though I was partially doubled over in pain. Because of my medical history I am not your average everyday patient who can be found sitting in a medical clinic’s [...]

Hospital Appointment Today

Today is the one year anniversary of my surgery – the lovely & brutal one which sent me into ICU for 5 days, completely unconscious.
Anywho, today it was with the Uro-Gynecologist, Dr Lee from Sunnybrook. She and Dr Herschorn worked on a joint surgery for me – performing several procedures all at once. According to [...]

… I had my big uber surgery. I will be having a little drink with friends next weekend to celebrate my surviving the surgery.
A lot of changes have gone on in my life in the past 18 months – the surgery being one of them. Another was losing my job at Airmiles. I admit I [...]

Yipee!!!

Kim, my nurse, has reduced me to 4 visits per week – down from daily. I am quietly optimistic about this. The hole has gone to 1.3cm deep and is very narrow now. Mr Geeklawyer need not worry, Kim has assured me that I will not require packing of the wound while I’m in England [...]

The Hole

Kim measured it today and I now have to share the happy news – which hopefully should make Geeklawyer sigh with relief and gratitude.
The hole has gone from 1.8cm to 1.2c in the space of a week.
If I didn’t jiggle too much I would be prancing about like a fairy.

Wound Care Nurse, part deux

I have received the report from the Wound Care Nurse, who came early last week to assess my “hole” and recommend any different course of treatment.
What I have to do is take multivitamins (already doing that), vitamin C (will start doing that) and zinc (will start doing that). What my nurse has to do is [...]

Wound Care Nurse

Huzzah! I have an appointment on Monday for a Wound Care Nurse to take a look at my wee little hole that refuses, rather stubbornly, to close.
Hopefully she can recommend a treatment program for the hole so that it can close much more quickly.
I swear, the pace of closure of this pesky hole is slower [...]

Itchiness

And it begins, yet again.
There is a rash developing, again, along my bottom incision line — yes dear readers, I have more than one incision line, this one is from either 2nd or 3rd operation; it’s horizontal and along the bikini line. It’s getting a little red and Kim is concerned. Back comes the antiobiotic [...]
